Hunting for treasures

About one-third of my work is material sourcing. I find inspiration from a great many places, but often it's old text/imagery, photography, and strange artifacts. You can find me documenting shoreline debris, or hunting through old newspapers on any given day.

Generating

It's all about setting conceptual boundaries

for myself. Creating rulesets to guide my

creativity. I find excitement in a challenge, and peace in constructive guidelines. Any medium will do. It is not about the medium, it is about exploring. Analog, digital, and in between, there is no right or wrong method to work.

Archiving

This is (a small) part of the archive/library I have crafted over the last seven years of resource gathering ( I currently have over four hundred volumes and several thousand artifacts within the library). It contains my inspirations for creating, and documentation of my practice - both things I study readily before jumping into projects. It is my dream to eventually expand and open this library for other creatives to use.

Documentation
&
Study

I often find the best way to keep track of materials, ideas, and resources is in photo documentation - treating it as an art in its own right. Watching how a particular batch of materials sourced from one location influences my work is often a point of study for my artistic development.
