This work is part of my Tidal series (and secondarily part of my Family Archive Project). It uses a buoy I collected off a state park shoreline, encrusted with industrial and office supplies I salvaged from my great uncle's garage after he passed. My intent for this piece is as with most, several layers deep. However the most pervasive in this work is the mimicry of natural reclamation - sea life slowly seeping into every part of human waste - making a haven out of it all. The creation of a symbolically relevant artifact to admire this phenomenon of nature is the most enjoyable part for me - the object is pleasant to look at, but not the end goal.

In regards to the Family Archive Project, this piece is a commentary on what I know of my family's past through the present - a literal object which floated to shore, after many years, now incomplete and encrusted with the embellishments only time can give.
