Hello there, it's wonderful to meet you!

I'm an illustrator working and living on the rural Central California coastline.

​

I was born into an artistic family settled in the mountains just East of the sea in rural Southern California. I grew up exploring the woodlands, creek-beds, cliffs, and caves by day and books by night. 

​

My family has been involved in the arts for several generations. I was drawing before three years of age and sculpting before eight. I've always been fascinated. 

​

My father and his father were both practicing artists, and my mother is from a scholarly refugee family that fled the Middle East during war times. It is little wonder there was no lack of story-telling to be had in the Petersen household!

​

It was this environment that guided my practice and studies to become a storyteller. With a degree in illustration from the California College of the Arts, I've embarked upon bringing the stories of my family and ones of my own crafting to life.
